This Must Hold by Ian Ruppenthal
Semi-imagined rendering of structure used to reintroduce endangered raptors to the United States. Such structures create an artifice of the "wild" animal, disabling the strength of a perceived human/nature divide.
Ian Rupenthal is an artist and naturalist working primarily within printmaking and drawing. Recent works examine the complexities and contradictions existing within our relationship to nature. Specific ecological habitats and niches interact with human imposed architecture to create haunted dissonance between the material and natural.
